For the benefit of international students, the UAE relaxes the recognition of foreign degrees

According to the QS World University Rankings, the United Arab Emirates boasts some of the best universities in the Gulf, and studying there can result in tax-free earnings after graduation.

It is anticipated that studying in the United Arab Emirates would become much more straightforward and easy for international students. Guidelines for the recognition of degrees from foreign higher education institutions (HEIs) have been released by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR). The process for recognizing degrees from overseas universities complies with the Zero Government Bureaucracy initiative.

The guideline specifies essential requirements, such as confirming the legitimacy of the qualification and making sure the issuing HEI is duly constituted, licensed, and recognized by the appropriate accrediting authority in its nation of origin.

While guaranteeing the legitimacy of these credentials, these principles will help expedite the recognition of foreign qualifications, cutting down on the time, effort, and paperwork needed for the procedure.

The decision came after a successful pilot launch in which the number of students with recognized qualifications increased from 5,780 to 12,180 over the previous year, and the prerequisites were lowered by more than 70%.

Pilot launch data showed that reducing the number of required papers from 14 to four improved access to recognition data and decreased the percentage of denied requests from 8.3% to 3.5%.

“The updated system seamlessly integrates with various local scholarship bodies to streamline the recognition of foreign qualifications, using two unified standards across all specializations and universities,” stated Ahmad Ibrahim Alsaadi, Director of the International Education Support and Scholarships Department at MoHESR and Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Higher Education Operations Sector. This improves the graduate experience by making it easier to recognize certificates for work or further postgraduate study.

The United Arab Emirates is home to some of the top colleges in the Gulf, according to the QS World University Rankings, and offers the possibility of tax-free income upon graduation.
