Technical Education Minister Ashish Patel called the project a “historic step to instill values in the new generation” and stated that students would be encouraged to pursue social leadership as well as technical brilliance in the renamed institutions.
In an effort to redefine the technical education landscape with an emphasis on cultural and moral values, the Uttar Pradesh government renamed five state-run engineering colleges after historical luminaries and national celebrities, authorities announced on Saturday.
According to a statement from the state government, the initiative, spearheaded by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and authorized by Governor Anandiben Patel, aims to combine technical education with principles like social consciousness, justice, harmony, and nation-building.
The renamed institutions would encourage students to achieve both technical success and social leadership, according to Technical Education Minister Ashish Patel, who called the effort a “historic step to instill values in the new generation.”
Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Rajkiya Engineering College is the new name for Rajkiya Engineering College in Pratapgarh; Samrat Ashoka Rajkiya Engineering College is the new name for Rajkiya Engineering College in Mirzapur; and Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Rajkiya Engineering College is the new name for Rajkiya Engineering College in Basti.
It further stated that Rajkiya Engineering College in Mainpuri will now be known as Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Rajkiya Engineering College, while Rajkiya Engineering College in Gonda has been renamed Maa Pateshwari Devi Rajkiya Engineering College.
“Students will be inspired by these names and encouraged to emulate the values of these outstanding individuals,” Patel stated. He continued by saying that the action goes beyond symbolic and would support pupils in developing a feeling of accountability and self-worth.
According to him, these institutes would equip Uttar Pradesh’s youth for positions in social leadership in addition to providing them with technical knowledge in the future.
