As Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney resigns, an Indian-Origin CEO joins the Harvard Board

The CEO of the streaming service Tubi, Anjali Sud, has been elected to serve on the Board of Overseers, one of Harvard University’s two governing bodies.

Two notable members of the Indian-American community have been voted to esteemed positions at Harvard University, causing a stir in both the academic and professional spheres.

The CEO of the streaming service Tubi, Anjali Sud, has been elected to serve on the Board of Overseers, one of Harvard University’s two governing bodies. Mark Carney, the former governor of the Bank of Canada, resigned from the board on March 9 and Sud will take over the remaining two years of his tenure.

The selection of Anjali Sud is evidence of her outstanding leadership and career abilities. Sud, who was born in Detroit in 1983 to Punjabi immigrant parents, graduated from Harvard Business School in 2011 with an MBA. She has occupied a number of executive roles in prestigious corporations, such as Vimeo, Time Warner, and Amazon. She is currently a board member of Dolby Laboratories and the chair of the board at Change.org. She also promotes financial aid initiatives at Phillips Academy Andover as a member of the executive committee of the development board.

In addition to overseeing the visiting procedure and conducting recurring external evaluations of Harvard University’s departments and schools, the Board of Overseers is an essential aspect of the university’s governance. As a board member, Sud will collaborate closely with other overseers to make sure the university keeps up its high standards in both research and academics.

Alongside Sud’s appointment, Sanjay Seth, a specialist in sustainability and climate change, was chosen to serve as one of the Harvard Alumni Association’s (HAA) new directors. Seth was the Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor for Climate and Equity at the US Environmental Protection Agency’s New England office. He holds a dual degree from Harvard in public administration and urban planning. Along with five other recently elected directors, he will start his three-year tenure on July 1.

Building community, encouraging engagement, and fostering a strong sense of university citizenship among Harvard alumni worldwide are the goals of the HAA Board, which includes its elected directors.

The appointments of Sud and Seth both demonstrate the increasing impact of Indian-Americans across a range of industries.
