NEET UG 2025: “Students are allowed to study an extra subject from NIOS, provided that the study is conducted through any authorized institutions,” stated the RTI clarification from the NMC.
NEET UG 2025: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has responded to an RTI inquiry regarding the eligibility of students from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) to take the NEET UG 2025 exam. The Commission clarified that students registered with NIOS are allowed to appear for and are eligible for the NEET UG.
“The students are allowed to study an extra subject from NIOS, provided that the study is conducted at any authorized institution,” read the RTI clarification from the NMC.
The announcement follows NTA’s release of the NEET UG 2025 information bulletin regarding the national-level medical examination. The notification stated, “It has been observed that confusion has arisen from claims that the National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the NEET-UG Bulletin 2025, which does not comply with NMC Regulations.”
The Supreme Court stated that the 2019 National Medical Commission guideline, which requires an MBBS aspirant to have “both hands intact,” “reeks of ableism and has no place in a statutory regulation.”
