Cheating case in Haryana Board: 5 invigilators and 25 police officers suspended

HBSE Haryana Board Exams Cheating Case: Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced that FIRs have been lodged against 12 individuals, comprising eight students, for purportedly cheating or aiding a paper leak at different examination centres.

Haryana Board Cheating Case News: The Haryana government acknowledged the purported leak of exam papers in Class 10 and 12 board exams, announcing on Saturday the suspension of 25 police officers and 5 invigilators linked to this incident.

On Thursday, the Board of School Education (BSEH) in Haryana held the Class 12 English examination. Reports indicate that the exam was leaked just 30 minutes after it started in the Nuh district, with images of the paper circulating on social media. Alongside the Class 12 leak, there were also allegations of a leak concerning the Class 10 mathematics paper in the Punhana district on Friday, February 28.

An official release states that the government has acted decisively against the officials at fault. So far, orders have been given to suspend 25 police officers and personnel for dereliction of duty, including four deputy superintendents of police and three station house officers.

The Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, announced that FIRs have been filed against four government school invigilators and one private school invigilator.

According to the information provided by the Haryana Board, there were 5,064 recorded cheating cases in 2018, 4,444 in 2019, and 3,551 in 2022. As a result of the new technology implemented by the Education Board, there were only 1,741 recorded instances of unfair means in 2023, and across the state, only 807 cases of unfair means have been documented this year.

Supervisor put on hold

In Palwal, the government has ordered the suspension of an exam centre supervisor and five policemen for failing to prevent copying during the ongoing board exams of the Haryana Education Department.

Dr. Harish Kumar Vashisht, the DC, stated that the supervisor of Centre No. 33 had been suspended immediately and that similar measures were recommended for five police officers. It was also advised to take stringent measures against the principal of the school where recent incidents of copying had occurred.

The DC stated that the action was taken due to reported irregularities involving officials assigned to exam duty.

He stated that high-ranking officials from the district, police, and administration were conducting surprise inspections at examination centers and emphasized that any oversight would be met with strict consequences.
