Once again, Patwa Toli, a weavers’ village in the Gaya region of Bihar, has garnered attention for its outstanding scholastic performance. Over 40 students from this community passed the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 second session. On April 19, the exam results were released. All of these students will now take the May 18 JEE Advanced exam.
Patwa Toli, which was once mostly recognized for its handloom sector, is now a center for aspiring engineers. The area is frequently referred to as Bihar’s “IIT factory” because it has generated dozens of IITians over the last 25 years.
Sagar Kumar, who lost his father when he was a small boy, is one of this year’s winning candidates. With the help of an NGO called Vriksha, he managed to achieve 94.8% while facing both financial and emotional challenges.
These youngsters’ accomplishments have made their families very happy and the town very proud. Their tales demonstrate overcoming hardship in addition to intellectual achievement.
When Jitendra Patwa became the first villager to be accepted into an IIT in 1991, the transformation of Patwa Toli officially began. His accomplishment inspired many others to do the same. Nearly every home in Patwa Toli is claimed to have at least one engineer these days.
This skill is fostered in large part by the ‘Vriksha’ Foundation, which was established in 2013 by the village’s IIT alumni. The organization provides study materials, free coaching for JEE candidates, and online sessions that link students with knowledgeable instructors nationwide.
