Since educational institutions in Kashmir have been forced to close due to tensions between India and Pakistan, several schools have shifted to online instruction in order to save students valuable academic time. Following the Indian Armed Forces’ “Operation Sindoor,” which targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir, schools have been suspended since May 7.
Many schools have shifted to online instruction in order to save students valuable academic time, as tensions between India and Pakistan have forced the closure of educational facilities in Kashmir. Leading private schools in the valley began offering their students online courses on Friday, as schools have been closed since May 7 due to India’s missile attacks on Pakistan terror facilities.
“After what happened along the borders over the past three days, it is not safe to leave homes,” said Saba Bhat, a mother of two, “so my kids have started receiving online education from today.”
The advent of the internet and other technological advancements over the past three decades, according to Samina, who lost an entire academic year when militancy broke out in Jammu and Kashmir in 1990, will not cause the current generation to suffer the same fate. “Although the current academic arrangement has been forced due to the situation, online classes have become an integral part of the education system the world over,” she said. Mushtaq Ahmad, a teacher in a government school, said a similar arrangement should be made for the public-run schools as well.
In this case, the private schools have taken the lead, and if things continue this way, we will have to catch up. According to Ahmad, it is preferable for government school students to transition to online learning until it is safe to resume in-person attendance.
Because of the situation near the borders, the government has taken precautions by closing schools, colleges, and universities.
