GATE 2025: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has announced the exam dates for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025. GATE 2025 will be conducted on February 1, 2, 15 and 16, 2025.
GATE 2025 will be held as a computer-based test (CBT) for a total of 30 test papers. The examination will be conducted in both forenoon and afternoon sessions. The application portal is expected to open in the last week of August 2024, an IIT Roorkee statement said.
The GATE 2025 test papers will be in English only. Candidates will have the option to appear for one or two test papers from the allowed two-paper combinations. The GATE score obtained by the candidates will remain valid for a period of three years from the date of announcement of results.
IIT Roorkee is the organising institute for GATE 2025. GATE is jointly held by IISc and seven IITs comprising IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee, on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB) – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.
Candidates who qualify GATE will be able to apply for admission with possible financial assistance to masters’ programmes and direct doctoral programmes in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts, humanities; and doctoral programmes in relevant branches of engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts, humanities in institutions supported by Ministry of Education (MoE) and other Government agencies.
GATE score is also considered by some colleges and institutions for admission to postgraduate programmes without MoE scholarship. Several Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have also been using GATE score for recruitment.
