Haryana Board Exam Scandal: 34 convicted for cheating in the name of love

In Nuh, Haryana, 34 individuals were detained during the class 10 board exams for impersonating real examinees.

In Haryana’s Nuh district, 34 people have been detained for posing as real candidates in the class 10 Haryana examinations. The cheating stemmed from various motives. Some sought to demonstrate their love, others acted for the sake of the relationship, and a few did so due to financial necessity.

Nonetheless, the primary reason for the cheating was personal connections; a number of individuals consented to sit the exam on behalf of their girlfriend’s brother as a demonstration of their genuine emotions. Of the 34 individuals arrested, six were minors.

About 2,93,000 students are taking the Haryana board exams throughout the state. On Monday, the English exam for class 10 was held from 12:30 to 3:30 pm, during which 79 students were found cheating from various parts of the state.

The police were summoned to several centres to oversee the matter. Even with stringent security measures in place—such as police presence and surveillance teams—these unethical practices are documented annually. The English and Maths papers for class 12 were leaked earlier on February 28. In the wake of the incident, 32 officials were suspended, comprising four DSPs and 25 police personnel.

One of the centres for the state board examination is The Mount Aravali School. On Monday, almost 200 students were taking the board exam.

To avert such cheating incidents, security teams have been stationed at different centres. Officials will take strict action against any such violations.
