The founder of Tesla stated that he was searching for hardcore software engineers, who may not have necessarily studied or worked at “big name” institutions.
Musk stated in a post on X that he was seeking dedicated software engineers interested in creating the everything app. With regard to qualifications, the applicants’ educational institutions and previous employers are not significant. To become a member, applicants just have to forward their ”best work” to code@x.com.
The founder of Tesla wrote, “If you’re a serious software engineer and want to create the everything app, please become part of our team by sending your best work to code@x.com.” Your educational background and previous employers are not of concern to us. Merely demonstrate your code to us.
What does the term “everything app” refer to?
As reported by Reuters, Musk envisions the everything app or super app as a comprehensive application that provides users with a variety of services, including messaging, social networking, peer-to-peer payments, and e-commerce shopping.
Apps of this kind are especially favored in Asia, like WeChat in China, which boasts over a billion monthly users. According to the report, the app enables users to reserve a car or taxi, transfer money to friends and relatives, or pay at shops.
The report highlighted Grab as an example—a prominent super app in Southeast Asia that provides food delivery, ride-hailing, on-demand package delivery, and financial services and investment.
‘X Currency’ in 2025?
Musk’s recent update about the everything app appears precisely two weeks after X CEO Linda Yaccarino suggested the introduction of financial services on the social media platform under the name ‘X Money’. On January 1, 2025, she posted on her X account, “In 2024, X transformed the world. Now, YOU are the media! In 2025, X will link you in ways previously unimaginable. X Television, X Currency, Grok and additional options. Fasten your seatbelt. “Wishing you a joyful New Year!”
